Dr. B.R. Ambedkar wrote a book titled “What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables.” It was later republished as “The Untouchables: Who Were They and Why They Became Untouchables?” The book critically examines the role of the Indian National Congress and Mahatma Gandhi in addressing the social and political issues faced by the Dalit community (formerly known as untouchables).
In this book, Dr. Ambedkar analyzes the actions and policies of the Congress and Gandhi towards the upliftment and empowerment of the Dalit community. He discusses the limitations and shortcomings of their approach and provides a historical account of the social, economic, and political factors that led to the marginalization and oppression of the Dalits.
