OBC Reservation

OBC stands for Other Backward Classes, which is a collective term used to categorize certain socially and educationally disadvantaged groups in India. The OBC reservation policy aims to provide opportunities and representation to these groups in areas such as education, employment, and government services. The Constitution of India includes provisions for reservation quotas for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). The percentages of reservation vary from state to state and are also implemented at the national level for certain positions.

The OBC reservation policy in India ensures that a certain percentage of seats in educational institutions, government jobs, and legislative bodies are reserved for individuals belonging to OBC communities. This policy is intended to address historical disadvantages and promote social equality by providing opportunities for OBC individuals to access education and employment opportunities that may have been previously inaccessible to them.
