Recognising the far-reaching influence of B. R. Ambedkar and his transformative ideas, the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy (SAAP) has announced the establishment of the ‘Bhimrao Ambedkar Prize in Global Pragmatism’.
Founded in 1973, SAAP is dedicated to promoting research and teaching across various streams of American Philosophy. The announcement of this prestigious award was made on April 12, just ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti, adding special significance to the occasion.
This award aims to recognise outstanding scholarly work that examines the dialogue between American philosophical traditions and thinkers from across the globe. It particularly focuses on intellectual exchanges involving regions such as India, China, Greater Asia, the Pacific, Africa, and other parts of the world that have historically received limited academic attention.
By instituting this award, SAAP not only honours Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring intellectual contributions but also encourages deeper global engagement with diverse philosophical perspectives.
